What is CNC machining?
CNC machining is a manufacturing technique that uses
computer-generated instructions (called G-code) to remove material.
There are two basic types of CNC machines: those that rotate while
the tool cuts, while the workpiece remains stationary, and those
that rotate while the tool remains stationary. Building on these
basic principles, you'll also find more complex machines.
How does CNC machining work?
CNC machining comes in a variety of different machine
configurations, but they all follow the same basic operating model:
specialized software converts a 3D model into a set of instructions
that the CNC machine executes to create the final part. These
instructions are written in a computer language called G-code. Once
the machine is running, the process requires no human intervention,
other than loading material, unloading the final part, and possibly
repositioning or securing the workpiece to allow the machine to
reach previously inaccessible areas.
What is CNC machining?
While you'll find that each CNC machine operates and is programmed
slightly differently, they generally share the same methodology.
Here's how it works:
CAD Model Design
First, an engineer or designer creates a computer-aided design
(CAD) model in 3D format. This model is specifically designed for
CNC machines to ensure the part can be manufactured correctly.
Converting the CAD File
Once the CAD file is created, it is imported into computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM) software. This software converts the CAD model
into G-code that the CNC machine can read to guide the machining
process.
CNC Machine Preparation
Next, the operator prepares the machine by inspecting its working
condition and wear. They then install the necessary tooling, or
allow the machine to complete this process automatically, and place
the material to be processed in the designated location.
Executing the Machining Operation
Once the material is set up, the G-code is prepared, and the
appropriate tool is selected, the machining operation can begin.
The machine starts, and the workpiece or tool moves as designed,
cutting the material until the machining is complete. In some
cases, the operator may need to adjust or reposition the workpiece
during the process.
FAQ:
Q: Are you a trading company or manufacturer?
A: We are a factory.
Q: How can I obtain a quotation?
A: To receive a quotation, please send us drawings in formats such
as IGS, DWG, STEP, etc., along with a detailed PDF. If you have any
specific requirements, please include them in the request, and we
will provide professional advice for your reference.
Q: What if I don't have a drawing?
A: In such cases, you can provide us with samples or drawings. Rest
assured, we will ensure the safety and confidentiality of any
provided drawings.
Q: What is your delivery time?
A: Normally, it takes 7-14 days for the parts to be ready. We have
systems in place to ensure timely delivery.
Q: How do you ship the products? What are the packing details?
A: For small quantity orders, we have partnerships with courier
services like TNT, FEDEX, UPS, etc. For larger quantities, air or
sea shipment options are available. We have standard packing
details, but if you have any specific requirements, we are willing
to assist you.
Q: Do you provide samples? Is there an extra charge?
A: Yes, we can provide samples, but there may be an extra charge
for them.
Q: What are your payment terms? How can I make the payment?
A: Our payment terms are 50% T/T (bank transfer) in advance, with
the balance payment due before shipment. If you have any other
questions, please feel free to contact us.
