In Bensonhurst, Brooklyn back in 1981, Jordache Jeans were the hot
item to have at school. My parents refused to spend the money
on just a fancy tag, so to save face I’d remove the label from my
generic brand jeans and customize them with my own style and label.
In 7th grade I was painting my sneakers and selling custom
friendship bracelets in middle school as my first business. I
learned to sew from my mother, learned fabrication from working in
my parent's sign shop, and learned about the world of art from my
father, who was a master painter.
Today, I continue to explore my ideas through my own businesses and
try to design custom items that reflect my past creative
experiences and current design aesthetic. I founded The Brooklyn
Factory as an art studio for original & limited edition pieces
to be used everyday. It is housed in a studio above our original
sign store Color Signs in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
