When
four corporations (Viacom, Disney, AOL Time-Warner and Rupert Murdoch)
concentrate 90% of the production of newspapers, radios, TVs, theaters and
movies, there's no possibility of democracy at the media. In Brazil, six
groups control 667 TV and radio stations. The short time we spend working, allyed with
our studies of communication, has been enough to make us notice the
information produced tehre is manipulated and poisoned in accordance with
interests others than the society ones. The mass media vehicles of communication just transmit the information in order to please the polical and financial élite that controls it. For that, it distorts facts, produces versions, disconnects events of its context, hides details. It spreads the conformism. Doing so, it molds perceptions, defines life styles, builts and supports the paradigms that allow the maintenance of the status quo. |
